The Essence of Me

The Essence of Me
The Essence of Me by maryb123 featuring a disc pendant

This is an outfit I would totally wear. Don't you love it too?

Justin Bieber... Get out of my life.

Have any of you heard of Greyson Chance?

Okay. Ellen (the Generous one) found h
is amazing vocal talent on Youtube and brought him on to her show. She loved him so much that she decided to make a record label just for him. Therefore, he has his first single.

Oh my gosh. It is my favorite song ever. You guys just have to watch the music video. Then you will understand me. But until you watch it, here's a few things I love about Greyson Chance.
  1. He album cover is grey, and I love grey.
  2. He's not full of himself, like other pop stars (ahem).
  3. He has the cutest face I've ever seen.
  4. His song isn't a stereotypical teenage pop song about a girl. It's actually about real life.
  5. His song is inspiring.
  6. He has freckles.
  7. He puts his heart and soul into his singing. Just watch the video.
  8. He's never had voice lessons, and he had only 2-3 years of piano lessons.
  9. I've listened to his song at least 20 times in the past few days.
  10. Maybe I should stop.
  11. Just one last thing, I'm jealous of the piano he has in his video.
Anyway, just watch the video, and become addicted.

My Feet are cold.

It's the truth. My feet are always cold. My hands too.

I remember at the last family reunion, we categorized everyone into two groups, vampires and werewolves, according to how cold their feet were. I was one of the only vampires.

My sad, sad life as a vampire. I am always so cold! I
don't know what the deal is!

Anyway, I included a nice picture.

Yoooouuuu! Light up my liiife!

You know what's lightened my life recently?

Homeschool!

I internalize stress. Frequently. I think that's what caused my appendicitis. After my surgery, I was bombarded with late schoolwork, and the term ended the Friday after I came back (I came back on a Monday). It was possibly the most stressful week of my life. After that experience, I just decided I needed to get out of the mess. So I started homeschool.

I swear, this has been the best decision I have ever made. I am so happy about life! People tell me that I look much happier and more smiley. I'm not weighed down with worry!

Dear homeschool,

In the words of Debby Boone:

Yooou light up my liiife!
You give me hope!
To carry on!
Yooooou light up my daaayyys!
and fill my nights with song!

Keep...Moving...Forward...

I'm home!

I came home yesterday at about 2pm. I am kind of glad to be home, but I miss the bed. Oh, the bed! Complete with five pillows and a nurse button.

I could have stayed there for a long time, eating bagels and grapes and apple juice. But nope, they kicked me out (kindly), leaving me appendixless and with a bloody, bandaged belly button. And some Tylenol.

Well what do you know....

You know how a few days ago, I said I wanted to die because my stomach hurt so bad? Well I really was dying. It was my appendix! I had surgery on Monday night. I was in a lot of pain after the surgery, but I am doing a lot better now. The worst part about the whole thing was going into anesthesia and coming out of it. I was so confused! They put some anesthesia medicine in my IV, and then the started asking me all these questions. I was trying to answer, but I couldn't! Then they put a gas mask over my mouth and it was SOOOOO nasty! I couldn't breathe! But I went right out. When I woke up I was crying uncontrollably, and I didn't even know why! I didn't stop crying for like two hours. The nurse told my mom that uncontrollable crying is how some people react to anesthesia, kind of like a side effect.

Anyway, I've just been sitting around eating bagels and fruit. I'm just having fun watching lots of good movies and talking to my Dad. The good part is I won't have a PE class for like three weeks! yahoo!

Ugh....

I have the worst stomach ache. Worse than any stomachaches I've ever had. I wish I was dead right now. I know, that sounds horrible, but I am about to go insane, it hurts so bad.

Toast with jam.

Thursday, October 21, 2010

I just realized that most of my posts are about my cousins.... That's okay I guess.

I'm stuck in the big whirlwind/tornado of school. Physics, chemistry, socratic discussions, orchestra, knee injury in PE, geometry (ahem... proofs...), National History Day, SAT vocabulary, research....

Add 'em all together, and voila! You get stress and sleep deprivation. Plus lots of flashcards.

Five weeks until Thanksgiving break. Just holding on until....

Daisy comes!

I am Homesick.

I have been thinking a lot about my summer adventures in Utah. They have brought me sadness and joy. Joy for the fun memory, sadness for being without my soul sisters (and brothers).

I laugh, I cry, I think about it all the time.

I remember Noah and I barely managing to control our laughter when we saw a George Lopez look-alike at the ice cream place.

Falling asleep watching Man from Snowy River.

Riding a teeny little scooter in Daisy's backyard.

Daisy confessing her love for Prince Zuko from Avatar.

Begging James to sleep by the door of the big cousin's tent, for fear of the monsters that roam the woods at the campgrounds.

Sigh. I want my best friends (cousins) to be with me right now.

I miss you all!

Just kidding... August 6 wasn't the best day of the summer

August 14-23 was.

I went to Utah for a final summer hurrah. I had so much fun! We camped, laughed, swam, lounged, and chatted. And we had a few snow cones. It was the best time I've ever had visiting with cousins.
I cried for two hours on the car ride home. I just had so much fun and now I have to get back to normal life- school.
I won't see my cousins for 4 months. Its is so depressing. My cousins are officially my best friends.

One of the Best days of the Summer (or ever)!

Friday, August 6, 2010 is was THE best.

I loved Flipped with a burning passion. Best movie of the year, in my opinion.
I saw the first showing on the opening day. My best cousin, "cousins", and I made soft pretzels and went to the movie together. I had a ball.

Then, cousin, "cousin" and I rode our bikes from one side of town to the other. It was easier said than done, but I had a blast.

Then we walked to Target and hung out and looked at stuff. I got some peacock socks for a dollar. Score!

I am really trying to cherish the last days of summer.

Yippee!

Wow guys.... Really?

Do you ever wake up to a raging arguement?
I do, a lot. I used get really mad about it. I need my beauty sleep, you know?
But now, since it happens so much, I just feel like saying, "Wow guys, really?"
But this morning, I woke up and heard the screaming. I calmly walked downstairs and said nothing.
Maybe I don't need to say anything. Maybe if I say "Wow guys, really?" it will make the arguers even more mad. I don't know.

Thanks Annabelle and Lou, for leaving me frazzled in the morning.

Flipping over Flipped!

Have any of you read Flipped by Wendelin van Draanen?

Oh. My. Gosh. I am so stoked.

I saw the trailer and wanted to see the movie.
Then I saw that there was a book and wanted to read it really bad!

It was amazing. Very quotable. The book kind of had its own philosophy behind it. It was very deep, but hilarious at the same time.
Isn't he so dreamy? His name is Callan McAuliffe. He's Australian, but he fakes an American accent in the movie. Skills.

The movie comes out August 6 and I cannot wait.

bob:\noun\ a short haircut

I got a new haircut.

(Does this picture make my nose look big? I think it does. Whatevs.)

I am super excited!!! I had it in a pixie type cut before, and it was super cute! I loved it, but I missed my long and luscious mane (haha). So i decided to grow it out. Soon the back started to get long and ragged, but the front was still kind of short. So I chopped off the back. Now it looks like a short bob! I am so happy.

thought\noun\:something in the mind

Is there ever a time where you can't stop thinking about something? I guess that's kind of vague.

Does your mind keep replaying an event- whether it be embarrassing, happy, sad, touching, or just plain awful?
Sometimes something happens and there is something I wish a wouldn't have done. Then I keep thinking about what I should have done instead.

or...

Is there ever a time when you can't stop thinking about someone- whether they made you feel angry, happy, giggly, depressed?
I have lots of those kinds of moments. Sometimes I can't fall asleep because I am thinking about someone, or what they did. And how they made me feel.

mu·sic\ˈmyü-zik\noun\an art form whose medium is sound

I love music.

Today, I am going to my orchestra's last rehearsal of the season- it is from 3:30 to 9. Our concert is in a week. We are playing the Wasps Suite by Vaughan Williams, and the Flying Theme from E.T. by John Williams. Last semester we played Beethoven's Symphony #4, and we will play #5 next semester. That's the famous- Dun dun dun duuuuuuun! Dun dun dun duuuuuun! I am super excited. By the way, I play the violin and the piano, and I have perfect pitch. I started piano when I was 3 or 4, and violin when I was 9. The times that I want to play the violin are when I'm angry, sad, mad, or completely happy. So I guess it's my form of expression. Instead of screaming in my pillow, punching the wall, or saying "Why me?!?!?!" I rip it out on my violin. Then I feel better.

Some people always ask me why I have so many musical talents, and they don't have any talents. I tell them that they do, but they're just not as.... obvious, I guess. For example, some people have talents for making friends, sympathizing with others, staying sane, or even playing scrabble. The more you practice them, the better they will become.

There's my sermon for the day.

veg·an\ˈvē-gən\noun\ a strict vegetarian who consumes no animal food or dairy products

Guess what.... I'm a vegan!
Just for 60 days (or until I go to Utah, whichever comes sooner). My mom is doing it with me.
I'm not doing it for weight loss, that would be ridiculous. I just... feel so awesome when I do it. I did it this past November. Sure, it's harder to find stuff to eat, but I feel so alive, healthy, and radiant. None of my Ostergar relatives understand, but that's okay. I am weird.

What do I eat?
  • apples
  • animal crackers
  • Mediterranean eggplant wraps from Trader Joe's
  • Cheerio's with banana and soymilk
  • smoothies
  • hummus
  • salad
  • almonds
  • trail mix without m&m's
  • PB&J
  • anything sans milk, eggs, butter, meat...etc.

Good morning. The sky is blue. I am hangin with my buds:

Church doesn't start until 11:30. I think I will make a smoothie.
